Privacy Policy

Effective: May 4, 2026 · Last updated: July 28, 2026

Guitar Highway (the "App") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data the App processes, what permissions it uses, and how it stores information.

1. Information collected and transmitted

The App does not transmit personally identifiable information to external servers. No accounts, sign-up, login, advertising identifiers, location data, or contacts are used.

Only anonymous usage statistics are collected to improve the App (see section 5). Song titles, score photos, recordings, and your playing are never transmitted and stay on your device. You can turn statistics off at any time in the App settings.

2. Data stored on your device

The following data is stored only on your iPhone/iPad and can be deleted by you at any time.

ItemPurposeHow to delete
User profile (name, avatar color) Separate progress for multiple users on one device More → Progress → User management → Delete
Practice session records (date, score, riff title, duration) Weekly trend, exercise stats, course progress More → Progress → Reset history
Onboarding/course progress (per-day score, completion) Level promotion, course graduation Same as above (Reset history)
Saved score images Stores recognized notes from captured sheet music Removed when you uninstall the app

3. Permissions used

Microphone / Audio Interface

Used to analyze the pitch and timing of your guitar in real time, via the built-in microphone or a connected audio interface. Audio is never recorded or stored; analysis happens entirely in memory and is discarded immediately.

Camera

Used to capture sheet music photos for automatic note recognition. Photos are stored on your device only when you explicitly save them, and are never sent externally.

Photo Library

Accessed only when you explicitly pick a score image. The App does not enumerate your photo library and does not collect any photo identifiers.

4. Machine learning processing

Note recognition uses an on-device ONNX model. Images are not uploaded to any cloud server — all inference happens locally on your device.

5. Advertising and analytics

The App contains no advertising SDKs and no tracking pixels. We do not track you across apps or websites, do not sell data to third parties, and perform no activity subject to App Tracking Transparency (ATT).

To improve the App we collect anonymous usage statistics through Google Firebase Analytics, limited to the following:

ItemDetailsPurpose
Feature usage counts How often score recognition, practice sessions, and tuner completions occur Understand which features are actually used
Practice result values Score, BPM, practice duration, number of recognized measures and notes Tune difficulty and improve recognition quality
Screen navigation Which screen you leave the app from Improve the usage flow
Device environment Device model, OS version, app version, country (collected by Firebase by default) Identify compatibility problems

Never collected: song titles, score photos, recordings, performance audio, names, contacts, or location. That data never leaves your device.

How to turn it off: App → More → Recording & Sharing settings → turn off "Send anonymous usage stats" and nothing further is transmitted. Download counts and crash reports collected by the stores (App Store, Google Play) follow each store's own policies.

6. Children's privacy

The App does not separately collect personal information from users under 13. Practice data, scores, and recordings all stay on the device and can be managed at the device level by a guardian, and anonymous usage statistics can be turned off in the App settings.

7. Changes to this policy

Material changes to this policy will be announced through an app update or this page. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
